How to choose a STYLE for your Wedding | Brantford Wedding Photography

After years of photographing Weddings of all different styles, the ones’ that are most memorable to me are where the couple were true to their specific tastes and made choices that reflected the exact people they are and didn’t allow themselves to get swayed by relatives opinions or requests….*I know, tall order right?  Sometimes you do have to bend a little but staying on track with your BIG wants on the Wedding day helps you both maintain your sanity and also feel like it’s YOUR Wedding.

How to start designing your Wedding day for you?

Maybe the theme is based on the date….Christmas or Valentines Day.  I remember an amazing Wedding I photographed in Kitchener a number of years ago that was Halloween themed.  The Bride was crazy about Halloween so the groom proposed the year that Halloween was coming on a Saturday so they could get married that day!  The bridesmaids wore black dresses and popped on witch hats for the costume party reception.  The cake looked like it was designed by Tim Burton…lol.  It’s still one of my favourite Weddings.

Sometimes it’s the location you want that will help you choose the style.  Here’s a few shots of a destination Wedding I photographed in Costa Rica.  The Bride & Groom are huge fans of the beach and so they knew that was where they had to have their Wedding.  It was stunning!

Sometimes just knowing that you love everything VINTAGE for example, helps steer you on the right direction.  This Bride’s gorgeous dress was bought at a second hand shop and altered to fit her like a glove.  Even the finger-wave hairstyle and make-up was true to their Vintage vision….right down to the Bridal bouquet having antique broach pins all through it.  Gorgeous Wedding!

This Bride and Groom wanted simplicity and elegance and found their style with an Audrey Hepburn feel and colour palette of red and Tiffany blue.

Putting your true signature on the style of your Wedding Day should be really simple.  If you don’t know what your personal style is, ask yourself these questions:

  1. 1. What is one key thing that you and your partner most have in common and what does it tell you about your style as a couple?
  2. 2. What is it about the time of year you’re getting married that you love?
  3. 3. What is one of the most important things to you about the Wedding Day?

Once you answer these questions as yourself how you can incorporate what you discovered into the Wedding plans.  What do the answer reveal to you about your style?
